Welcome to organic art
My aim is to re-connect people with the natural environment using creative workshops, and provide as much of the hands on element of skills learning as possible giving you useful experience.
After traveling India extensively, a place where people are still very much in touch with their environment and where they still have and use practical skills, I became interested in musical instruments. More importantly, the making of these instruments using materials provided by the natural environment.
back from India
On returning I contacted my local nature reserve to acquire permission to remove dead or cut wood from their forest for the purposes of making musical instruments. Of course a great deal of interest and support was expressed.
After the first samples were successfully created it was recognized that it would be possible to use these skills in the form of workshops to aid in the re-connection of people with their natural environment using materials provided by the forest.
past, present and future
I have been successfully running these workshops for two years. The idea and business is continuing to expand with more organizations interested each year. Having worked with several nature reserves and woodland management organizations, further ideas and workshops have been developed now including projects with local schools ranging from one day to one week, providing demonstrative and practical hands on sessions.
Chris.
